Damascus in the fifties with all their authenticities.
Also 18 minutes of
the film were pictured in the archaeological city of Apamea, showing
all its eternity and greatness, for transferring it to the whole world,
the film having been presented in three continents: America, Europe and
Asia.
:The French director Rgis Wargnier who had won the
Oscar, said:
I intended by picturing an important part of my film A French Woman
in Damascus and Apamea to show the intervention of the history of France
with the history of Syria in the twentieth century and he added :
Since my first visit to Syria I was impressed by the simplicity of the
people and their warm welcome, and I discovered the importance of Syria
with its civilization and the beauty of its sites. This discovery was a
privilege for me, but making other people share with you the pleasure of
this discovery through the scenes of a film is another privilege.
