The project of Dar Al-Saada home for the old aged
is considered a pioneer project and the first of its kind in Syria. It
is the result of persistent activities carried out by a group of
virtuous Damascene ladies who are members of the General Aid
Institution which was established in 1950 and carried out many charity
and humanitarian projects in Damascus.
The Institution felt that it was necessary to create a home for the
old aged, in which they receive health and social care, thus easing the
difficulties of old age.
Under the directives of President Hafez Al-Assad, the institution
was allotted a proper plot of land forthe construction of the home.

Dar Al-Saada Institution for the old aged was founded on
the initiative of a number of ladies from Damascus, gathering around
Mrs. Oumayma AIDI MREIDEN, daughter of Dr. Mounif AIDI, and Mrs. Jamila
Khiyami, spouse of the late former Minister of Health Dr. Madani Khiyami,
and Mrs. Yvonne Chahine, spouse of the late former dean of the Faculty
of Medicine, Dr. Anastase Chahine. The institution was resorted to some
charitable people who paid for the building of the home.

with Mr. Mouafak Al-Midani, for the construction of the ground floor, to
be named after the late Dr. Munif AIDI and Mr. Jamil Al-Midani. When
the building was complete it was inaugurated by the First Lady Mrs.
Anisa Al-Assad, in an official ceremony.
Osmane Mounif AIDI Foundation for Heritage, Culture and Sciences
has also contributed by donations for the building of the lower floor,
the kitchens and a division in the ground floor. This division was
given, after completion, the name of Dr. Mounif AIDI. |
