   Exhibition : Syria Memory of Civilizations

Under the patronage of President Hafez Al-Assad and President Franois Mitterand, and both the Ministries of Culture in Syria and France, and the Municipality of Paris, the Arab World Institute and the Syrian Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with Osmane Mounif AIDI Foundation for Heritage, Culture and Sciences, held an exhibition which strongly attracted French people.
 

   

The exhibition offered through many art works and rare exhibits which numbered more that 400 , an explanation of the cultures and historical ages through which Syria passed, and a presentation of archaeological discoveries which show these ages.
the appearance of the agricultural society and oriental religious beliefs, as well as the ceramic handicrafts and statues which date back to more than 6000 years.

The exhibition also presented the era in which the first Syrian cities were established, showing the history of many ancient cities like Ebla, Mari and Ugarit etc., and the different antiquities discovered there, and documented the different historical periods such as the time of the Sumerians, Arameans, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and others until the Islamic age and Ottoman occupation, in addition to the cities which were famous in each era like Palmyra, Apamea and Bosra. The exhibition was rich in art work, statues and tools in addition to scripts, decorations, and jewelry which show the variety and richness of the Syrian civilization.
